Key research themes
The causes and consequences of power-sharing in the form of extension of the vote in the political process have been central to her research up to now.
Civil rights have been very much connected with traditional forms of nation statehood up to now, despite increasing globalisation and digitisation. If groups (e.g. women, foreigners or young people) are excluded from political voting and election rights, this damages institutional congruence, and potentially therefore also the quality of political, social and economic outcomes. A core element of her research is the processing of previously unused data on the introduction of voting rights for women and foreigners in Switzerland.
